More about Buttercream and Ganache Cakes

This is confusing right, why say buttercream/ganache? All my cakes are filled with lovely soft buttercream in a flavour that compliments whatever cake flavour you’ve chosen, but after many years of trial and error I now always finish my cakes with a layer of either dark or white chocolate ganache (depending on cake flavour and the desired end colour palette). I use ganache to seal cakes because it sets firmer than buttercream, which protects your cake and keeps it fresher for longer. It also makes lovely clean Insta-worthy slices! Depending on what extra detailing you’ve chosen I will often use a mix of ganache and buttercream (eg. for piped flowers) – which is softer than ganache but a little bit firmer than buttercream on it’s own – on top of the ganache base layer.

Obviously when it comes to dairy free cakes I have to work a little bit differently, but for the majority of these types of cakes this is what you can expect from me.

Prices start from £70 for a 6″, 4″ extra tall, or a giant cupcake (giant cupcake feeds 6-7).
